I was sitting at a table in the middle of a cafeteria on day two of a three-day encounter with the Lord. I wasn’t by myself but with about 30 other men seeking the Lord for the needs of their hearts. Suddenly a circle of women holding hands surrounded the cafeteria.
They were friends and volunteers of us men donating their time to see how the Lord might use them. They decided to sing and it was the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard in my entire life. I spent the next 20 minutes sobbing as the Lord healed deep places in my heart that had been shattered at the hands of women in my past.
I challenge you to consider the most beautiful sound you’ve ever heard? Was it coming from a person? Did that person love Jesus?
I was spending time with the Lord recently and He began to speak to me about the purity of gifts and abilities He’s given each and every one of His kids. He told me that there is nothing more beautiful than a gift being used while wrapped in purity.
There’s a good chance that one of the most beautiful sounds you’ve ever heard has come from someone who undoubtedly loves Jesus and that you can sense the purity of their hearts. That’s not the purity of perfection but the purity that comes from truly knowing just how deeply they are loved. And not just knowing it but living in it.
But the Lord didn’t just talk to me about singing. He talked to me about every gift and every ability He’s given to us. What are you good at? Where are you talented? Those talents, those abilities have come from God and know this: They will never be as successful, profound, magnificent, obvious or beautiful as they can be until they are wrapped in the love of God that purifies us.
When we overcome the lies of our adversary and choose to believe the truth about just how much He loves us, how He feels about us, His love will shine brightly through us. But it’s even more than that. As His love shines through us it will reflect off of every talent, gift and ability He’s sowed into our hearts. The result will be radiance far beyond what we can imagine.
Hearing those women sing changed my life. That’s what happens when gifts meet purity. Lives are changed.
Blessings,
