Recently one Sunday I was taking my turn in Children’s Ministry, and the Lord had me take the kids through a visionary prayer time. We had music playing, turned down the lights, thanked Jesus for specific things, praised Him for awhile, then just asked Him to come into the room and show us pictures and take us to new places. Even though there were only a few children present that day, God’s amazing presence showed up, and the room was filled with His glory once again!
We allowed His spirit to permeate the children for about 20 minutes, then we brought them back together to process what we had experienced. Most of the children had either heard His voice, felt His touch or seen a picture or “movie” as we call it. We had the kids go back to the tables and color/draw what they had seen/heard from Jesus. One little 5 year old boy, Winston, caught my eye and melted my heart for Jesus!
A simple drawing, but his heart in explaining what he saw was so tender and so full of love and sincerity for Jesus – makes me love working with kids! Winston told me how he saw himself and Jesus sitting on a hill with mountains in the background watching the sunrise together, and they were happy. The picture is basic, but as he was explaining it, his eyes shone, and you could sense that he had been with Jesus!
Just as with that sunrise, there is a new day dawning for that young man, as he is very visionary and already has a heart for serving and sensing Jesus. You, also, can have that same freshness, newness and simple faith. Jesus wants us to have the faith as a little child – He invites us to watch the dawning of our new day with Him, also. It’s so easy to be a kid – they let Daddy worry about everything big and just do as they’re told WHEN they’re told, otherwise they’re relaxed and happy….hmmmmm. Well, gotta go….it’s getting light outside, and I’ve got a sunrise to watch!
