Have you ever heard a parent disciplining a child say, this hurts me more than it hurts you? People do not make the same statement when they withhold forgiveness from others, but in this case it is undeniably true. To be denied forgiveness is a terrible burden, just as losing a case in court.
Yet court verdicts can be appealed, and those who are denied forgiveness in this world can appeal their cases to me. If they are truly repentant I will overturn the judgment against them, but to whom will you appeal if you refuse to grant forgiveness to others? Forgive the offenses against you no matter how great, for to refuse is worse than any offense.
