“Excuse me.”
The woman looked up from her burger. “Yes?”
“Would you mind if we sat here with you?”
She glanced around at the other tables inside the hospital McDonalds. They were all full. I know, ironic. The only open chairs were next to her and her son. She gestured to the four open seats. “Sure.”
“Thanks,” I said and motioned to my friends. We’d come to visit and pray with someone and decided to grab coffee before separating. I stole another glance at the woman and her son as I sat. Above their heads a thick and strong root appeared. I saw it plunge into the ground and take deep root. There was nothing but strength and security as the root anchored the both of them.
“What do you want?” My friend asked. “It’s on me.”
“Come on. You don’t have to do that.”
“No I want to.”
“Are you sure?” my other friend asked her.
She waved us off. “Stop being stupid and tell me what you want.”
My friend hurried away to put our order in as we talked amongst ourselves. I couldn’t get the vision I’d seen out of my head and I knew God wanted me to tell the woman and her son what I’d seen but wasn’t sure about the timing.
Well it came as I was listening to one of my friend’s stories. “Hey I’m sorry but I’ve got to talk to this woman over here real quick.”
“Oh, yeah go ahead.”
I nodded and turned to the pair. “Hey my name’s Jesse.”
She told me her name and introduced her son who was around 10. “Nice to meet you. Hey sometimes God lays things on my heart for different people and would it be okay if I shared something with you.”
Her eyes grew wider. “Yeah, sure…that’s fine.”
“Cool.” I explained the vision that I saw. The Lord spoke to me about securing their foundation. Her skeptical face melted and emotion lit her eyes as I spoke what God gave me to speak. I saw hope drape over her like thick branches of a tree. She told us about the difficult spot they were in and about her son’s migraines.
“Well we’d love to pray for his migraines if that’s okay with you.”
Her son nodded and we commanded the migraines to leave and released healing over him. He was all smiles and told us how much better he felt. “That’s the love of Jesus touching you,” I told him.
They thanked us and left shining brightly. The food at McDonalds isn’t exactly the greatest thing we can put in our bodies but Jesus is serving up the bread of life no matter what other kind of foods happen to be there (see what I did there with the McDonalds and the bread of life…get it? I’ll be here all week).
May we continually be more consumed with His love and life than our own so that we can see and love those around us who desperately need Him!
