I told you to love your enemies. Do you find this to be the most difficult commandment of all? Even if you can get past your natural aversion at doing this, how do you go about it? You could pray for them; a prayer of loving and blessing and favor rather than judgment. For those who hurt you is your first response to hurt them back or to try to understand their situation? Is there anything you can do that is more concrete and visible? I address this question by teaching you to turn the other cheek, and to be kind to those who despitefully use you. This is how you can heap coals of fire on their heads, and I want you to understand this as something beneficial.
A testimony of the power of forgiveness
Dear CWG Ministry,
Thank you so much for today’s devotional message, love your enemies. I do get your messages almost every day at about 8:05am, normally my morning time, and I do share with some of our members and friends on my WhatsApp and Email, and when students at school I share with student leaders to minister to other students during daily evening fellowship / prayers; when student leaders have no time to prepare daily messages, they normally use CWG daily messages. With the virus now, all students are home and I am only sharing with friends and those on my phone contact. God is good. Thank you for this message, Love your Enemies. I shared on my Whatsapp and about 129 wrote to me and many liked it.
A certain lady shared with her 74-year-old mother. She had been sick and her legs could not stand or walk without support since 2013. According to her daughter, her mother took a certain man to court in 2012 after the death of her husband. She claimed the man robbed their properties and poisoned her husband, but she lost the court case. After three to four months she felt sick, started with joint pain and she never walked since that time. Many people asked her to forgive the man but she could not and, according to her, she never wanted to forgive this man until death.
The daughter told me that when I shared the message with her, they were all together and she read it to her mother. Immediately her mother started crying and left. She went to her room and came back with 9 names which, according to her, she had vowed never to forgive them. But after this devotional message today, she came back and told the daughter she had forgiven all her enemies. Her daughter then led her to Christ Jesus.
According to her, after she prayed for her, the mother went to rest after lunch (at about 1:48 pm) with a printed copy of "love your enemies" devotional message from CWG Ministries. She slept for about 3 hours. At about 4:13pm, the mother called her, her leg was restored! When she tried to get her walking stick, she realized that she had strength. When the daughter came, and asked her to try to walk, she started walking well until now!
