Overview from Pastor Vijay Christian: Vinay, our worship pastor, takes care of all the village churches and every work in the 21 villages we are currently ministering in. He heads up all our medical camps as well as our sewing school. Vinay is an anointed worship leader, teacher and bass guitarist of our A2J band.
I am Vinay Prashant and I was born and brought up in a Christian family. I used to study well and I took a decision when I was a child to live for God. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior in Sunday school. When I grew up and went to college I had bad friends and strayed from God. I used to give much priority to worldly friendships in my life. I never cared about my parents and what they thought of the life I was leading. I used to live a different life at home than what I lived in the world and balanced both types of friends.
In my house, everyone was talented and being used for God. I didn’t feel like I had any talents and they used to scold me and made me feel belittled. I became very much depressed and discouraged. That was the year 2004 and I earnestly asked God to fill me with any talent and use me for His kingdom. I cried and fasted for a few days and was able to learn how to play the guitar within three weeks as a left handed person. By God's grace, I was given an opportunity to play in a youth camp with the A2J band.
My life changed when I started to play music and those who were speaking harshly of me started to give me opportunities, had more confidence in me and I gained respect within my family. This is how I came closer to God and started to move away from my worldly friends. I graduated with my Bachelor degree in accounting and started working as a supervisor for a contracting company. Those days I did not know English and I asked God to fill me with the English language and to use me for His kingdom. I promised God that I would work more in the ministry. In the Friends' Meet Ministry I was also taking care of the music department and fulfilling my responsibilities by leading worship and traveling with the team.
Once I went to Hyderabad to lead worship at a conference. There God spoke to me through a man regarding the ministry call on my life. It impacted me greatly and I returned home and shared with my parents and Friends' Meet leader. They greatly encouraged me and gave me confirmation through the scripture John 1:49. Then I resigned my job and entered into full time ministry. Went to Bangalore for my Bible college and returned home where according to my calling, I started working beside my dad as an associate village pastor.
The past three years I have been working among the young people in the villages. God has given me the grace to turn these young people to God and make them as disciples and I thank God for the wisdom He has given me. I am also part of Friends' Meet Ministries and my calling is prophetic worship pastor where I also work and serve God with the A2J band.
Last year, God gave me a vision of organizing a cricket tournament for the young people in the villages. There were 23 villages and 200 young people that participated. Every morning we had a time of worship and devotion before the match would begin and it was a chance for everyone to hear the gospel. Many of them accepted Christ and house churches started in a few villages. This is how God is using me for His glory and kingdom and I thank God for it.
Pray for the vision that God has given me in my ministry. Last year, God also used me to organize a worship seminar, career guidance, and youth seminars to reach and mobilize the young people in the villages. My desire and vision is to do greater things for the young people in the villages.
My upcoming plans are to start an English worship service for the college students in the villages, start more house churches and add more seminars. I want to see the villages transformed. Please pray for me and my ministry.
In His Service,
Vinay Prashant
