Craig shares the meditation below as he prayerfully reflects on “History 2 – Divided Kingdom” in our “Old Testament Scholar" series of modules.

The kings did not work. All the kings good and bad showed themselves to be selfish. But the people wanted to be ruled by a king; A man! And not by God. They wanted what the world wanted, they wanted to live in the flesh and not in the spirit where faith and trust in acknowledging The Creator God and Father who had led them.
We are to be a people led by faith. But the battle with the flesh can be so depressing and it feels like drudgery when we cannot see what God is doing in our lives. Then comes the enemy's schemes.
Evil was right in the midst of Israel all the time, showing itself through scheming and deceit, always trying to lure away the people from The God who had created them, using man-made idols that the pagans worshipped in futility, but the people wanted to be like the world! God had separated them out for Himself and led them. Continuing to be merciful to them giving amazing victories over the enemies that seem to be overwhelming them.
The prophets were bold, intervening in bad political moves and schemes. Correcting, challenging, and wanting the people to look to God. “They did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death”. Rev 12:11 ESV. Even though they were men just like us says James 5:17. God had to correct and encourage them to keep going. Surely He is the author and perfecter of our faith Heb 12:2.
We are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed but of those who believe and are saved Heb 10:39.
“To the saving of the soul”. NKJV
But we are not people who shrink back and perish but are among those who believe and gain possession of their souls. Weymouth New Testament
Gain possession of their souls. Getting our souls back from the ravaging of the old flesh life.
Kings both of Israel and Judah show us to look to no man.
We have a covenant God who says “They will all know Me from the least to the greatest”. Heb 8 Jer 31.

Journaling question: Lord, what would You speak to me concerning spreading Your rule in the hearts of mankind?
“Hearing God’s voice is as simple as: quieting yourself down, fixing your eyes on Jesus, tuning to flow and writing." www.CWGministries.org/4keys
The only thing that works is the rule of God in the hearts of men. The solution to today's problems is a revival. The feeder to a revival is prayer, repentance, and learning to hear and live out of the voice of God daily. HELP SPREAD REVIVAL! Share this with your friends.
