The following journaling was done by Sara Cornett as she worked her way through our training on 4 Keys to Hearing God's Voice. We emphasize that there is safety in a multitude of counselors (Proverbs 11:14), and that every rhema is to be confirmed by two or three others (2 Corinthians 13:1). This keeps one from getting lost in their own subjectivity, while providing encouragement and faith to continue on, as our spiritual advisors affirm to us that our journaling did indeed come from God.
What is Your view of spiritual counselors?
There is one body, one church. In order to function, you need each other.
Ok, anything else?
These are holy connections – not to be taken for granted. Cherish them & pray for them and for the person/counselor I have provided. Honor them as is fitting. I am the Cornerstone, head of the Church, and I give the Church for the Church as a gift.
Thank You Jesus for being Our Head, Our Cornerstone, for giving us back to each other for our good, and our benefit and growth. Thank You for Your High standards, for Your calling to love and honor one another. Since You are the Wonderful Counselor, what counsel would You like to give to me today? Let me guess… Remain in You?
Yes, hold fast to Me. I am Your life. Your life is in Me now. You no longer belong to the kingdom of darkness. As such, your life power comes from Me, Your new Ruler, King, Giver of Life, Power. Come to Me often, as often as possible.
But Jesus, Your Word says that when we take the “drink” You give us, we will no longer thirst, so why does it feel as though we are still thirsty, in fact, more thirsty & desperate than ever before. It’s much worse. That upsets me. It feels like a trick, false advertising.
Sara, I’m glad you are honest with me, but you need to trust Me more and believe that I am good. It’s foundational. If your default is to quickly doubt and question me, that will be difficult to build upon. I say this for your sake, so that you may grow up in your faith and have more stability. Decide and believe that I am who I say I am: Love, then lean in with those hard questions, but not as a skeptic, as a believer.
Ok, Lord, yes, it’s true. I admit I need to get over this childish, old way of thinking – thinking the worst of You. So what about the water & thirsting?
Sara, thirst will always be there. It’s about the journey, the experience, the how. In Me, you are guaranteed to always have access to good, safe, drinkable, satisfying water wherever you are. You no longer have to rely on yourself or others for this water. I become your supplier for life, and you can count on My provision. There will never be a shortage – a dry well, contamination, poisoning, blockade, etc.
What about those dry spells that believers experience? Surely there are still cases of contamination.
Sara, I do not lie. I do not deceive. I only speak truth – not to control or manipulate. I do not play hard to get or withdraw My love or water ... I always welcome you home with open arms and forgiveness as I did with the prodigal son. I will do the same with you. That is My covenant to you. The vows of love I promised and made to you, Sara, as your Lord and Savior.
Wow, Jesus, thank You. Thank You for loving me so beautifully and generously.
