What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Have you ever heard about someone making a deal with the devil for their soul? Do you imagine that this is a formal transaction with documents and signatures in blood?
It need not be that explicit. This is the path of those who go their own way rather than seeking me. Some go their own way and never amount to much. Others obtain all the wealth that this world can give yet at a terrible cost for eternity. They may be admired by those on the same path as the ones who succeeded, but the scripture still poses a valid question. Attend to the condition of your soul; it is more valuable than anything here.
