A few months ago I wrote about an opportunity I had to pray for a blind man. I talked about how I let that opportunity pass without doing anything. If you don’t remember it’s HERE.
After I let that opportunity pass without taking the steps the Lord was urging me to take I was determined to pray for the man at the next chance I got.
Well, weeks passed and I didn’t see him. But then, when we were pulling the rescue into the station, I saw him. He was walking down the street with a woman guiding him. We parked in the station and I jumped out of the rescue but by the time I got outside they were gone.
This is how it went for another couple of weeks. It was like they would vanish into thin air. BUT…I finally got them haha. A couple of days ago I was at the station working out with a fellow employee.
I had on shorts with work boots not totally covering my navy blue uniform socks and a sleeveless shirt. I looked like a clown. I was doing something “core” related when I saw them. They were walking down the street away from me.
I quickly jumped up and bolted out of the bay. They weren’t far enough away so that I couldn’t hear the emergency tones (signaling a call) which was good I’d say. But my partner was looking at me funny. But probably not as funny as the blind man’s guide was looking at me running after them trying to get their attention.
They stopped and turned towards me. I introduced myself and told them that I saw them walking a few months back and felt like I wanted to pray for them. The woman looked at me warily. I told her that I love Jesus and that I try and do my best to reflect that to those around me. A big smile worked its way across her face and she said, “Well that’s great.”
I asked her if it would be okay if I prayed for them. She said yes and I asked the man what had happened. He told me that he got an infection that took his sight. He has light perception but that’s it.
I asked him if it would be okay if I prayed for him. He said that it would be. So I closed my eyes and began to listen for direction. I saw a beautiful ocean. I saw it wash over the man and cleanse him, purify him. I saw all the pain and suffering of his life being coated with the ocean of God’s love and goodness.
As I began speaking out the vision I felt him begin to shake under my hand. The Lord began to give me more words for him and he was visibly being touch by the perfect love of God. Then I began to command healing over his eyes and sight. After a few minutes nothing had improved with his physical eyes but emotionally, spiritually there was a lot happening.
I asked him how he felt. He told me that he felt great, so much better now. I blessed them and they went on their way.
I will continue to pray for his sight to be restored but in the meantime I marvel at how powerful it is when Father touches hearts. When he peels back the layers of crud and finds our vulnerability, it’s just amazing. I’ve said before, I’ll take renewed, restored and healed hearts every time over physical healing alone. But please stand with me in prayer for his sight!
