Do you think a sense of humor is frivolous; something that has no place in a spiritual life? Consider the most Christlike people you know. Are they the most grim and humorless? Much of what passes for humor in your culture is crude and tasteless, but it need not be so.
This is a perversion of something innocent. Children laugh for the joy of life and you are my child. You must become this way to enter my Kingdom. A merry heart has healing powers as a medicine and it is my will that you rejoice evermore. This is not careless or contrived humor. You have a sound basis for rejoicing. You have been translated from death into life and your name is written in my book of life. Act like it.
