Streams in the Desert - Uganda Third Report

We are in the middle of Day Two of our medical clinic in Kitango. Yesterday was smaller; we treated about 165 people. This morning when we arrived, there were already nearly that many waiting. Kelly, our medical director informed me a few minutes ago that these are among the sickest people we have ever treated: serious diseases, infections, burns etc. One little toddler had a terrible burn on his arm that has not been treated since it happened about a week ago. This has meant longer waits for the large crowd, but still they wait patiently.

The Prayer team has been going non-stop since we opened. A few minutes ago, a man stood up in front of the crowd and, to our surprise, began to tell everyone what Jesus has done for him today. After he spoke, Robin invited those who wanted to receive Christ to raise their hands. Several did so. In fact, all morning the team have been leading people to Jesus and connecting them with Pastor Augustus.

The healings are happening so quickly and steadily that I can't keep up. (Even as I started this paragraph, a team member came and told me that four children with fever were all just instantly healed. An elderly woman with cataracts was totally healed, then immediately pointed to her hip and knee, explaining that she had been in pain for a long time. After one short prayer all the pain left and she started walking up and down the steep hill where the clinic is being held. A man, seeing what had just happened, took hold of a team member and said he had terrible teeth pain and back pain. He, too, was instantly healed. A woman with a totally paralyzed arm was completely healed; she left with full mobility. Deaf ears have opened, lameness has gone, all kinds of pain have simply vanished. There is a great joy here today.

Last evening at the outdoor meeting held in the middle of the town (village, really), there was a small gathering. Most people listened from the front of their homes and shops. When the invitation to receive Christ was given, not more than ten came forward. We then began to pray for those who needed healing as it started to get dark. With the darkness came the people who had been listening from a safe distance. One by one, the team led a number of them to Jesus. By the time we got onto the bus, nearly every team member had led someone to Jesus.

When we were here in Kitango last March, we saw the school children constantly going to the water hole with jerry cans on their heads. This happened multiple times a day. I checked out the water hole with David Pearson. It was a long way away and, as we expected, the water was terrible. There was a tank beside the school but Pastor Augustus told us that is was nearly empty most of the time. A team member found out about the situation and had the pastor research the cost of installing large gutters. When he got home, he donated this on  a Tuesday; on Wednesday the parts were purchased and by Friday the collection system was installed. Since then, the students have not had to the water hole even once because the tank is now filled up with every rainfall. So the children stay in class and they drink safe water.

(In the last few minutes another man has had his cataracts completely disappear; he reports clear vision.)

We are looking forward to what the Lord has in store for the rest of this remarkable day.

Then shall the lame man leap like a deer, and the tongue of the mute sing for joy. For waters break forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. (Is 35:5-6)
