You are familiar with the concept of getting to know someone. Everyone presents a public image, usually of superficial politeness, for casual encounters with other people. You don’t consider that you really know someone until you can look beyond that.
This is a process that takes time, and you base your lasting impression on how they act consistently. Other people form their impressions of you the same way. I knew you before you were born, so I don’t have to get to know you, but it is part of the development and growth of every believer to get to know me. As you walk with me and see the perfect consistency of my love and faithfulness you will know me in a deeper way, and have a foundation for deeper trust in me.
