An Invitation

“I am here, Lord. I wait for You. I fix my eyes on You. What is it You want to show me and speak to me today, Lord? What is it You want to speak to me about [name of individual who is on my heart]?”

My Lord speaks: “I am at work. Keep your eyes fixed on Me. Speak to [individual's] spirit. One truth at a time, I set My people free. Every truth breaks a chain that binds. Freedom. Freedom. Freedom. The sound of freedom is eternal. To My freedom, there is no end. My truth sets the captives free, one truth at a time. Ring My liberty bell. I am the way, the truth, the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me. My enemy prowls around like a lion watching and waiting for the next opportunity to steal, kill and destroy. Keep your eyes fixed on Me, and I will hide you under the shadow of My wings. Fix your gaze upon Me, and I will provide for your every need, one truth at a time. Choose Me. Choose life. Every time you choose Me, choose life, you take one more step away from darkness and hopeless despair. I am the way, the truth and the life. Choosing life is the way out, one choice at a time. I am your shelter. I am your strongtower. I am your daily bread. I won this battle for you. The way to My secure victory is to choose life and agree with My truth, one choice at a time. This battle cannot be won in your own strength. But I already won it in Mine. Choose Me. Choose life. On earth as it is in heaven. This is how you find My secure victory. It is established on earth as it is in heaven, one choice at a time. Choose Me. Choose life. Agree with My truth that I may have My way and you may know My secure victory. This is My love for you – I gave My life for you that you could truly live. True life is only found in Me, and in My freedom. My love is My truth that sets you free, one choice at a time. Choose Me. Choose life. Accept My love. Receive. Receive. Receive. It’s true. I love you. I created you. I rejoice over you with singing.”

Hi Tara:

I have recently heard the expression that you put in your blog - speak to the person's spirit. Can you explain how to do that? How do you speak to a person's spirit? And where in the Bible do you find that concept? I see where the Bible has examples of where we speak to our soul, but what about the spirit? Thanks much.

Tara Dulin's picture

I speak to a person's spirit by speaking truth to them -- Jesus' truth -- in love, out of the flow of the Holy Spirit. The entire New Testament speaks to my spirit b/c the Holy Spirit lives inside of me and bears witness to His truth as I read it. When someone encourages me in the Lord, and I feel built up in my "inner man", I received something in my spirit. If it built me up in my spirit, then it was truth. Lies do not build me up in my spirit. My spirit does not bear witness to lies. The Holy Spirit promised to lead me into all truth and righteousness, so I can trust that I will discern truth from lies.
Here are a few scripture references for your consideration. Hope this helps!
Romans 7:22 NASB
For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man,
Romans 8:16 NASB
The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
John 6:63 NASB
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.
1 John 5:6 NASB
This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and with the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
Romans 8:16 NASB
The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
2 Samuel 23:2 NASB
"The Spirit of the LORD spoke by me,
And His word was on my tongue.
1 Corinthians 6:16-20 NASB
Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH ." But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him. Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own? For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.
2 Corinthians 3:15-18 NASB
But to this day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart; but whenever a person turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 4:1-7 NASB
Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we received mercy, we do not lose heart, but we have renounced the things hidden because of shame, not walking in craftiness or adulterating the word of God, but by the manifestation of truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, so that the surpassing greatness of the power will be of God and not from ourselves;
1 Corinthians 12:4-14 NASB
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many.
1 Corinthians 14:1-6, 11-15, 22, 24-26 NASB
Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation. One who speaks in a tongue edifies himself; but one who prophesies edifies the church. Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you would prophesy; and greater is one who prophesies than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may receive edifying. But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking in tongues, what will I profit you unless I speak to you either by way of revelation or of knowledge or of prophecy or of teaching? If then I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be to the one who speaks a barbarian, and the one who speaks will be a barbarian to me. So also you, since you are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek to abound for the edification of the church. Therefore let one who speaks in a tongue pray that he may interpret. For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful. What is the outcome then? I will pray with the spirit and I will pray with the mind also; I will sing with the spirit and I will sing with the mind also. So then tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophecy is for a sign, not to unbelievers but to those who believe. But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or an ungifted man enters, he is convicted by all, he is called to account by all; the secrets of his heart are disclosed; and so he will fall on his face and worship God, declaring that God is certainly among you. What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.
1 Corinthians 16:17-18 NASB
I rejoice over the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus, because they have supplied what was lacking on your part. For they have refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore acknowledge such men.
Luke 12:12 NASB
for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say."
2 Corinthians 3:1-9 NASB
Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some, letters of commendation to you or from you? You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Such confidence we have through Christ toward God. Not that we are adequate in ourselves to consider anything as coming from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God, who also made us adequate as servants of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, how will the ministry of the Spirit fail to be even more with glory? For if the ministry of condemnation has glory, much more does the ministry of righteousness abound in glory.
Ephesians 3:14-21 NASB
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
