God has spoken to us most clearly through His Son, Jesus, the Living Word. He has also given us His written Word, the Bible. However, He is a living and loving Father God who delights to speak to us, His children, today. One of the ways of hearing what He is trying to communicate with us is to keep a journal.

‘Journaling is a way of recording what one senses God is speaking within him. Impressions sensed in the heart are registered in the mind and recorded by the hand. It is similar to the Psalms except that one's journal never becomes Scripture. Rather it is tested by Scripture.’

This book is taken from my journaling over the years. It is not a substitute for your own walk with God through Jesus His Son and the infilling and flow of the Spirit. But many of the things that God has said to me, He would say to you. In the first instance He is always saying as our heavenly Father, ‘I love you’.

It was reading extracts of Charles Slagle’s books that spurred me on to reach out and ‘hear’ what God was saying to me. So be bold enough in faith through the Spirit, to reach out in your heart, and hear what God is saying to you. And don’t forget to write it down -- that way you won’t forget what He said!

Many years ago, I read the book God Calling by Two Listeners. It was a book of journaling, just like Graham’s. I was so amazed that people could hear God’s voice and write it down. It seemed like an impossibility to me. What amazing people these “two listeners” must have been! How I hungered to have this experience.

Now, we have the privilege of training others how to hear God’s voice. This book, Words of Life, is a wonderful demonstration that God is still speaking today. After 800 years of the Church believing there is no living contact between God and man, this wall of separation is being broken down. The Wonderful Counselor is speaking words of healing into our hearts. This book is a demonstration of that fact and His loving words provide healing, inspiration and life!
