If Jesus was aware of s(S)pirit sensations within Him, and lived constantly out of them, then we must learn to do the same. The foundation of this book is the 1200 verses in the Bible which mention “heart” or “spirit”. You will look up many of them, answering two key questions: “What does this verse teach is a possible spirit-level characteristic or feeling?” and “When have I experienced such a spirit sensation? What did it feel like?” The goal is that you come away with a vocabulary to describe the spirit, and an awareness of the Holy Spirit's movements within you. You will learn how to radiate Christ out through your spirit. You will learn how to walk by the Spirit and not carry out the desires of the flesh (Gal. 5:16). You will learn to live as s(S)pirit-conscious as Jesus did. You will also learn to sense the spirits of those around you. By doing this, you will be able to minister heart to heart or spirit to spirit (Mk. 2:8).

This 136-page workbook guides you in a biblical meditation on the words heart and spirit. You read hundreds of verses on heart and spirit. You record what you are discovering and when you have experienced these heart/spirit sensations yourself, gaining an understanding of what your heart/spirit feels like inside you. You journal and ask the Lord what He wants to speak to you concerning the verses you are exploring. There are suggested group activities at the close of each chapter.
Chapters explore what the Bible has to say about the following topics: What does living out of my spirit look like? How do I define my spirit in practical enough terms so I will be able to feel its movements? What are the functions of my spirit? Does the Bible really say I have emotions in my spirit? I was amazed as I began to look at all the scriptures that speak of our heart/spirit and its various activities that Dr. Virkler points out in his book How to Walk by the Spirit. By searching God’s Word I gained insight as to not only what man’s spirit is, but also what my spirit feels like when it is moving within me. I have found that extremely helpful in my day to day journey with the Lord. I had not considered defining my spirit until Dr. Virkler suggested that man’s spirit is the deep, underlying motivations and attitudes and character of a man.
Following is some of Keith’s two-way journaling for this course:
You realize that without My anointing on a person’s life they are simply attempting by self-effort to do what only I can do. I want you to seek My anointing on your life above all other things. Without it you are just spinning your wheels, as you would say.
My anointing doesn’t come by your trying harder in your life to gain it, for it is not by your works. The anointing can only come from Me and you don’t earn it. However, I do fill those who hunger and thirst after Me. Realizing your need is important and I know that you understand that. Consecrate yourself to Me, My son, and continue seeking Me with all your heart.
Remember the times you have prayed for people and your hands felt as if they were on fire? That was My anointing upon you at that moment. You didn’t work that up, I placed it upon you.
Lord, I have felt that from time to time but never on a consistent basis. Why not?
You still struggle with believing how much I really love you and the yielding of yourself completely to Me.
Lord, I don’t know how to change that.
Believe My Word simply as a child would believe and trust Me just like your children trust you. I do not desire to withhold any good thing from you. Rest in Me, My child, and My love for you. I know what I am doing, be patient and wait. Remember, My strength is made perfect in your weakness. Delight yourself in Me and I will give you the desires of your heart. I love you!
Remember, I am the one who will sanctify you for your life’s work. I will not let you miss this, My child. The more you get to know Me and listen for My guidance, the clearer your ministry and anointing will become to you. Be patient, My child, and follow Me as I lead you. I am delighted that you are getting to know Me as a person. I love you as Father loves you and as Jesus loves you. Rest, My child, and trust Me to reveal Jesus to you in new and fresh ways.
