Shine on Everyone You Come in Contact With - Journaling by Ann Musico

Lord, the chapter in the book I am reading stressed that You are Light and in You there is no darkness at all. It is a beautiful, bright and sunny morning here and it almost hurts my eyes to look out the  window at the sunshine.

I know that this isn’t even close to Your amazing radiance but what would You speak to me this morning?

knowledge?

Dale Cresap's picture

My word says that in the last days knowledge would increase. Without setting a timeline for end-time events would you say that this has happened? It seems that a database of all the facts in the world is available continuously to nearly everyone everywhere. Would you say that there has been a corresponding increase in spirituality? How has one not lead to the other? Does this lead you to question the assumption that knowledge is the measure of all things? My word says that knowledge puffs up. He who is spiritual judges all things, but you have to ask the right questions and walk the right path to get there.

real baptism?

Dale Cresap's picture

Have you been baptized? The Bible teaches this clearly as a first step for believers, and it is a universal practice among Christians. Do you see baptism as a symbolic act? It is a public statement of identification with me, being ‘dead and buried’ in water in like manner as I was dead and buried, and coming up out of the water in ‘resurrection’, even as I was resurrected. Yet even John said that he only baptized with water and spoke of one to come who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and fire. In doing so he acknowledged that his baptism was ritual and symbolic, which is not to say it is without meaning. Are you ready for a real baptism?

sacred vs secular?

Dale Cresap's picture

Do you draw a sharp dividing line between the sacred and the secular? Are spiritual activities few and narrowly defined, with special times, places, and rituals, and everything else is secular by default? This is a common assumption by both believers and unbelievers, but you don’t have to look at things this way. You take it as an article of faith that you live in a world that I created, and that you were made alive by receiving divine breath. I have promised to be with you always. The more you look for my presence in everyday events, the more you will see it. If it isn’t obvious, ask me what my purpose is in every situation and I will show you.

selling out?

Dale Cresap's picture

Are you familiar with the concept of selling someone out? This is another term for betrayal, and it is one of the worst things you can do. I know because it happened to me. This phrase implies an exchange of money, but that isn’t strictly necessary. In a broader concept it is trading the high value of the integrity of friendship for anything of lower value. Do you see how the same concept could be applied to yourself? You can sell yourself out. If you deviate from your true identity or compromise your unique destiny to gain the approval of other people, then you have betrayed yourself and sold yourself out.

run from pain?

Dale Cresap's picture

Do you avoid pain and suffering and setbacks and run from them whenever you can? Yet do you look for deep meaning and unifying purpose in life when you are having fun, going to parties, and have plenty of money? You could, but most people don’t. it is easy to be superficial when things are going your way, but there are gifts available when they are not if you are willing to receive them. Don’t waste your sorrows, for they serve an essential purpose in your spiritual development. You need a container for life that is big enough and strong enough to hold even pain, sorrow, and death. Don’t waste these opportunities for growth.

confession

Dale Cresap's picture

My word teaches you to confess your faults to one another, so that you may be healed. Do you find this difficult to do? When you work up your courage to do it, are you more likely to be relieved or filled with regret that you did it? Do you think that you are the only one who stands to benefit from this encounter? What about the person to whom you confess your faults? Have you ever been on the receiving end of a confession? This too is an opportunity for growth in empathy and compassion, to minister wisdom, and to examine yourself. Have you already found that there is a special bond that forms between friends that have shared at this level of depth?

Perfect Peace When Your Imagination Is...

Mark Virkler's picture

"The steadfast of mind (“Yetser” =imagination) You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You (Isa. 26:3).I memorized this verse as “The steadfast of mind…” but it is correctly translated, “The steadfast of imagination You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You.”

perfect?

Dale Cresap's picture

My word teaches you to be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect. Yet it is commonly accepted conventional wisdom, by believer and unbeliever alike, that no one is perfect. Do you find it frustrating that you have been given a command you cannot carry out? Ancient mariners would steer their ships by the stars. Do you think that they found it frustrating that they would steer their ship by a star with the knowledge that they would never get to it? Of course not. In like manner the Magi followed my star and it led them to me rather than to the star. If you follow me you will end up where you belong and that is all I ask of you.
