When the Lord spoke to me almost 14 years ago about rescuing lives, I had no idea He would use that call to build an incredible, dedicated and loving worldwide family. Throughout today, I have found myself thinking about this family we all share. I really love you all.
It feels strange for one person to be writing this report; the past week has been such a kaleidoscope of activities that no one person’s writing could do it justice. Nevertheless, here are a few highlights from one man’s perspective:
One of the principles I like to teach is: When you're in the bullseye of God's assignment for you, it always comes with supernatural favor. On Wednesday evening, the group of businessmen I have been taking around East Africa (YPO) hosted a reception and dinner of other YPO members. We were delighted when, a few weeks ago, the Speaker of the East Africa Legislative Assembly accepted our invitation to be the guest of honor and main speaker at the event.
Looking back at yesterday, it is hard to believe that so much could happen in a day.
I am with a group of CEOs from the US, showing them various aspects of the 'Daughters of Destiny' program that our friend and partner, Mike Brawan runs in Kenya. He has seen tens of thousands of prostitutes and young men living on the streets turn their lives radically around through turning to Christ and then starting small businesses. So far, Mike has started 98,000 businesses.
Here are some highlights of the first two days:
“There will never cease to be poor in the land”. Dt. 15:10 There are over 200 verses in the Bible about the poor. Throughout both the Old and New Testaments, God reminds us about His special care for, and attention to, the poor. Jesus spoke of the poor over twenty times; It is interesting that the verse that is most commonly quoted is John 12:8––“For you will always have the poor with you, but you will not always have Me.”
“O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes, Father, it pleased you to do it this way! (Mt. 11:25 NLT)
What a time we are living in. While it is so easy to be distracted by the politics and violence in the world, the Kingdom continues to powerfully increase. Both the Old and New Testament tell us that there will be a great acceleration of Kingdom activity; clearly, to all those with eyes to see, we are in such a time. As the prophet of justice, Amos, wrote about 2700 years ago: Hear this! The days are coming––this is the Lord’s declaration––when the plowman will overtake the reaper. (Am 9:13)
When Jesus turned and noticed them following Him, He asked them, “What are you looking for?” They said to Him, Rabbi (which means ‘Teacher’), where are You staying?” “Come and you’ll see.”…”We have found the Messiah!” (Jn 1:38-39,41)
