We prefer to see people do their own prayer work. However there are times when an intercessor may be called upon to pray and intercede for another. This surely is biblical as God has ordained intercession. Some examples of intercession would include a parent praying for their child, or one praying for their spouse or friend. And we are to pray for those in authority over us, so there is no reason these prayers could not be applied to localities, communities, groups of people, and nations.
Mark, I just wanted to share something that was very exciting for me. In Chapter 3 of your How to Walk by the Spirit workbook (and on the lesson CD), you spoke of how God taught you that emotions are by-products of pictures. Well, during the lesson, I understood what you were saying. I was listening, thinking about it, and nodding my head in agreement...but without realizing it, it wasn't really hitting my heart. I guess you could say, the revelation wasn't my own...at least not yet.
Learning to hear God's voice has been the single most transformational experience of my life, excluding the actual act of accepting salvation. I have been a born again Christian since I was 17, having grown up in the church, which means I was full of doctrine and religion. Over the past 20 years, I have audibly heard the voice of God speak to me ONCE, giving me direction to do something. I did not know, nor did I realize a few things: 1) that he was always speaking, 2) I can always hear, and 3) that one time in 20 years could not count as a relationship.
