Your Life's Impact Is Measured in Eternity

As I was listening to Julie True’s 5-minute introduction, I looked in my imagination at Jesus handing me a stone to skip on the lake. I enjoyed doing this as a child and it is easy to picture a bad throw or a great one. With a glimmer in His eye, He hands me a stone and says, “Try this one.” Of course it skipped easily across the water and out of sight, into the distance over the horizon. I've seen that picture several times, and read another’s journal entry on this, but today I feel the Lord is speaking to me thru it. Lord, what do You want to say to me? 

Every man fears his life will be like thrusting his hand into water and pulling it back out, leaving a short ripple that is immediately gone. Having no lasting impact on the world. You have this fear in proportion to the measure of faith and drive I have put into you. You want to make a difference and I am completely behind that and in it. You have tried many things in your life, and as you are seeing, I have given you many desires and experiences that are converging in this place today. I am with you.

Because I am with you, and in this new direction, I will tell you now that what you are doing is having a permanent impact. The stone is skipping across the horizon, out of sight, as a picture showing that what you are embarking on will have a lasting impact. Unlike a stone dropped into water, whose ripples last a few seconds, I am using you to do something that will last. It will not be measured in months or years. Not measured in time, but in eternity.  You and I will laugh together… and yes, even dance… when we celebrate together over all that I am doing through you.
