Who am I going to vote for and why?

Behaving like Christians

I do think it is important for Christians to be able to model open, loving discourse on sensitive issues. If we hate those whom we disagree with, how are we any different from the world? If we descend into name-calling and slander and innuendo because of our differences, how have we modeled Christ to the world in which we live?

Modeling Christlikeness

We are the ones who are to model how to disagree agreeably. I believe if we are listening to the Spirit, we will perform this supernatural function. Let’s model Christ-like behavior, attitudes, and speech.

I am glad for dialogue about any of the points in this blog, however I will not take the time to read any response expressing dishonor or name-calling.

I want my vote to count.

Only two candidates have the possibility of winning the presidency. They are Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. Since I want my vote to count, it would be for one of these two. We also are going to be voting for many other positions to be filled, so make sure you vote according to the Bible for ALL of these people!

I honor ACTIONS more highly than words

21 Bible verses indicate actions speak louder than words. My decisions are always guided by the Bible and the Spirit to the best of my ability.

Exploring the ACTIONS of the two candidates

Billionaire and long-time Democratic voter Bill Ackman lists 33 actions of the Democratic Party that are destroying America from within, and these are the reasons he is voting for Trump. I agree these 33 ACTIONS are destructive to America.

Actions in the first one or two years of Trump's presidency

The decision my wife and I reached is

Policies and actions that affect our personal decision to reject the current Biden/Harris administration:

  1. The promotion of murdering pre-born children as a defining right, demanding that even those who morally oppose it should perform and pay for it
  2. The demand that everyone, regardless of their personal values, morals, and convictions, accept and even embrace the LGBTQ+ lifestyle
  3. The corruption of our children, especially when they are entrusted to their care for an education
  4. The support of the mutilation of children’s bodies rather than giving them the counsel and mental health care they need
  5. The weaponization of the DOJ against pro-life protesters, concerned parents, the Catholic church, and other conservative groups, especially while violent criminals are released without bond and given minor sentences
  6. The destruction of our economy – Statistics are irrelevant when I KNOW that our grocery spending each week for just the two of us has increased by a solid 25% since 4 years ago.
  7. The horrendous withdrawal from Afghanistan – The death of 13 servicemembers was bad enough, but the unbelievable way it was carried out is without excuse. I know nothing about such matters but even I would have withdrawn our civilians and carefully vetted nationals who had proven their loyalty to us first, followed by the removal of our physical military assets (unless we could negotiate keeping the strategic Bagram Base after our withdrawal), and our trained military personnel last. Instead, we abandoned our allies to the vengeance of our enemies who were now armed with whatever is left of the $7 BILLION in military assets we left behind. (The defense is that they rendered it unusable. So, it is somehow better that they DESTROYED $7 billion worth of state-of-the-art equipment than that they abandoned it?) In my opinion, this operation was worse than incompetent and totally indefensible.
  8. The destruction of our borders and disregard for the laws regarding legal immigration – A nation without borders is no longer a nation. A nation cannot absorb 10 – 20 million people in four years, people with no means of supporting themselves, who do not speak the language, and who do not know or care about assimilating to our culture. Adding to the insult is the use of our tax dollars for their ongoing support while American veterans and other citizens are homeless or struggling to provide for their basic needs. In addition, over 320,000 children have been lost with no knowledge of their current status. They are likely being used for sex trafficking, forced labor or other forms of exploitation.
  9. The instigation and unending financial support for far-away wars that have little benefit for the U.S. – Many informed observers believe we are closer to nuclear war with Russia and China than we have been for decades. If the feckless policies of the current administration continue, I have little doubt that we will be embroiled in a world war before very long.

Policies and actions that affect our personal decision to support former President Trump:

  1. Appointed 3 originalist Justices to the Supreme Court, leading to the overturn of Roe v. Wade plus other important decisions – Sadly, they are not as reliably originalist as I had hoped, but they are certainly an improvement over the previous activist judges. And I recognize that Trump is not as strongly pro-life as I would like to see, but of the two choices, his position is closer to mine.
  2. Moved the American embassy to Jerusalem, recognizing the historical capital of Israel
  3. Oversaw the negotiation of the Abraham Accords, normalizing relationships between Israel and several Arab nations resulting in a time of peace in the Middle East
  4. Made us energy independent and even an energy exporter – We are now again dependent on our enemies for vital energy resources needed to support our economy.
  5. Reduced government regulations – As a strong believer in small government limited by the designated powers stated in the Constitution, I believe it is wrong for the Legislative branch to have allowed the bureaucracies of the Executive branch to have taken over the power to create “guidance,” “rules,” and “regulations” that are enforced with the power of law and govern every aspect of our lives. During the Trump administration, 8 regulations were eliminated for every 1 new regulation added.
  6. Supported religious freedom and the end of the Johnson Amendment
  7. Revoked previous guidance to public schools that supported allowing male transgender students to go into private girls’ spaces, and vice versa
  8. Established immigration policies that allowed us to control the number of people who entered the country legally so they could be vetted and assimilated properly while diminishing illegal immigration.
  9. Led us through four years of peace with no new international conflicts

Journaling - God's caution so we don't lose the anointing

I awoke with a dream on my mind, so I journaled about it. Here is what God said: Mark, when you become judgmental and crude you LOSE divine perspective and My Spirit is no longer with you. NEVER lose My Spirit. Never attack. Minister LOVE even toward your enemies. I WILL repay them. You LOVE and reach out to them. Return good for evil, blessing for curse, life for death, truth for error. You stand as a shining light, different from the darkness the evil one walks in, for they walk in darkness and death. Do not attack darkness with darkness. Attack it with My Light.

Behold I have spoken. Behold it is to be done.

Journaling questions

  • Lord, is there anything in my life that is hindering Your anointing from flowing?
  • Lord, what would You speak to me about my vote in the upcoming election?
