I do agree that “a picture is worth 1000 words.” I wonder if TV, movies, and video newscasts are worth MORE than 1000 words? If so, can their power be countered in any way? How much is a FLOWING vision of Jesus alongside me worth, as I observe in REAL time what Jesus is doing? Let's see what the Bible says!
Carefully selecting what I am looking at
I suspect a flowing picture (movie, vision, newscast) is 1000 to 1 million times more powerful than my thoughts. Does the Bible concur?
- Transformed by where we look: For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal (2 Cor. 4:17-18).
- Transformed by Who we fix our eyes upon: Run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:1-2). Jesus envisioning the future benefit of the current turmoil He was in empowered Him to endure.
- King David’s choice as to where his eyes were fixed: I continually see the Lord in front of me. He’s at my right hand, and I am never shaken (Acts 2:25 TPT).
- Paul’s prayer – enlighten the eyes of our hearts: I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation (Eph. 1:18 TPT).
My action
In today’s turmoil, I re-commit myself to seeing Jesus at my right hand, and praying for the Holy Spirit to turn on the movie, so that as I tune in to flow, I see Jesus in action (Jn. 7:37-39). He’s having a good time. He tells me He is in control. He tells me to relax and enjoy the ride! I enter into the peace of the Lord.

- Lord, what do You want to say to me about the pictures I am gazing upon?
- How am I being transformed by them?
- Are there pictures in my heart that I need to invite You into, so I experience Your freedom, Your healing, and Your release?
