National Day of Prayer on May 6th

This year’s National Day of Prayer is on Thursday, May 6.  My wife, Myrna, and I have been asked to lead this effort for the First Coast of Florida, covering the Jacksonville metro area. Our theme for this year is the unity of believers for the purpose of bringing revival to America.

We will be praying for the seven areas of influence in society: government, military, family, church, education, business, and media.

I think that we would agree that our Christian rights are being threatened like never before in our lifetime and maybe even in the history of the US.  Jesus‘ last prayer before He went to the cross is in John 17, which many believe is the real Lord’s prayer, which was also His longest recorded prayer.  In the last part of Jesus‘ prayer in John 17:20-23, Jesus prayed, “I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and You loved them, even as You have loved Me.

We know that anyone’s last words are probably their most important.  Jesus prayed here that all believers throughout history would be united and be one with Him and the Father so the world would know that God sent Jesus. There’s no limit to what believers can do if we are all united together with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.  There is a much smaller minority trying to take away our Christian rights, and they do not have the infinite power of the God of this universe working through them, as we do!

I believe that unity among believers will produce revival - the fourth great awakening in the US.  And revival always starts with us as individuals.  We need to humble ourselves before the Lord, confess our sins before Him, seek His holiness in our lives, and pray, fast, and hunger for intimacy with God above all else.  We are to, “Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually" (Psalm 105:4). Then, we will see that only He satisfies our deepest needs like nothing in this world can.  Then, Psalm 73:25 will become real to us: “Whom have I in heaven but you? I desire you more than anything on earth.”  Then revival will come from us and spread to the needy world around us.

The National Day of Prayer for First Coast, Florida, will be on Zoom this year, and we are inviting congregations from the First Coast and around the nation to gather in their churches for this prayer event and connect to the Zoom call via a screen in each church; and, of course, individuals are very welcome to connect to Zoom from their own homes.

We will have a Zoom link (coming soon) on our Facebook page, “National Day of Prayer – FIRST COAST FL.”

On the National Day of Prayer on May 6 at 7:00 p.m., you can join the Zoom call where a separate worship video will be played for each of the seven areas of influence in society.  Following each video, Bible verses for that area of influence will be featured on the screen for everyone on the Zoom call to declare together.  We believe that as we speak/declare God‘s powerful Word, God will show Himself strong in these areas of influence and take them back for His honor.

Will you seek for revival in your own life and pray with us that God brings revival to America and greatly use the National Day of Prayer to do so?

Pray with us now:

“Thank you, Lord, for saving us in Christ and for this great country, which was founded according to Your principles. We see how this country is being threatened like never before, mainly from within. We pray for revival and awakening in America which we know is Your absolute will. May it start with us as individuals - with me, because Your word says that if we believers humble ourselves and pray, and seek your face, and repent of our sins, that you will hear us and forgive us and heal our land. We want to fall in love with You more through intimacy with You and be filled with Your perfect love, which will bring unity among Your children and draw people to You, all for Your glory.  We want to do our part on the National Day of Prayer and always to help bring this nation and the world to You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen and Amen.”

Thank you and God bless you!
