A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Hair Salon
I had told my hairdresser that we could do some soft highlights for the summer. I'd gone darker for awhile, now wanted to change it up a bit with more of a sun-kissed look. So I said to “just go a little bit lighter.”
Famous last words. Even she was surprised at the color it ended up being and used the term “platinum” to describe the new bleached version of my head. The next day my co-worker called me “blondie” as soon as he walked in my office. Awesome.
Now, I really didn’t mind, it had actually turned out pretty nice. It was just definitely unexpected. So imagine my surprise then when (my angel) Shobi gets incredibly excited about my new look, telling me how perfect it is.
“We match! Now you’re my mini-me! You look like my kid sister. Don’t you see the resemblance? This is great!”
(Note: Shobi is more the traditional, golden hair, eyes of fire, luminous kind of angel. Poje is tall, dark and handsome. They’re like an older and younger brother to me. Totally a sibling vibe.)
No Grid for This
I figured Shobi was just doing his “keeping me in my happy place and not letting me freak out” thing so I just smiled and nodded and didn’t think much of it.
I mean, really. What am I supposed to do with comments like that? I have no grid for any of this.
Well, wouldn’t you know, just a couple days later I was on a plane and had “happened” to grab a copy of Charisma to read on the flight. And they just “happened” to have an article on angels.
In it, John Paul Jackson was talking about how an angel helped Peter escape prison, but then when Peter knocked on the gate of Mary's house, they didn’t even let him in, because they were thinking it wasn’t actually Peter, but that it was just his angel (Acts 12:5-16).
John Paul said that many understand these verses to indicate that our guardian angels can sound and even look like us. Really?
“Shobi, it turns out you might actually be right about this!” (I know, I know. Oh me of little faith.)
He just smiled, tipped his head to the side and shrugged, “Told you…”
What About You?
Have you talked with the Lord about your guardian angels? Has He made any angelic introductions for you yet? Please feel free to share your revelation and spiritual encounters with us in the comments below! We’d love to hear how God’s using His ministering servants in your life too.

Look alike angel?

Looking back at this major event in my life, I now wonder if I encountered an angel?
1979- I was 16 y.o., my father had died 2 months before of a heart attack and I was with him. My mom had been diagnosed with lung cancer, and had her left lung removed a few days before.
We were not a believing family, but I was saved at 4 y.o. old in the neighborhood church and did attend there through out my childhood, but I attended alone. So I knew about God, and that I could pray and talk to Him.
I was not following Christ as a teenager, but I did pray every night. I prayed alot for my mom. “God, please dont let her die” was my mantra of rumination, all day and all night. I never told a soul and God was my secret.
Anyways, in 1979 I was standing in line at the bank, and in walks the doctor who did my moms surgery. I recognized him right away. No one had answered my question for me, all of the adults in my life avoided this discussion with me. : Was my mom going to die? I dont know where the boldness came from but I decided to ask the doctor if my mom was going to live, in line at the bank. He answered me and told me yes my mom was going to live and she was going to be healthy. I believed him. I had peace.
My mom refused radiation and chemo, I dont remember exactly why except that her friends who had chemo became quite sick and died. She watched then die and decided she would rather die from the disease than the chemo. My mom was not a believer. It took my mom a few years to recover and her remaining lung to upgrade its function, to two lungs, but she did recover. She lived life to the fullest, dancing, swimming, snow shoeing and hiking, all with one lung. In her later years she developed COPD, but everytime I took her to the hospital for unrelated assessment, her lung function was at 98%. I would often forget to to tell the nurses she only had one lung, and they would be shocked when they measured her oxygen levels. They would repeat the tests, readjust the equipment to make sure it was working properly.....ha ha ha.
My mom passed away in 2011 at the age of 88 y.o. She snow shoed till she was 75 y.o. I led her to the Lord a few years before her death.
I now wonder if that doctor in line at the bank was an angel, because who could predict such a marvelous outcome for my mother except God Himself? Statistics at the time said only 5% lived to 5 years with her diagnosis.
Praise God for His mercy! Praise Him!

Hallelujah! That is a wonderful testimony and such a blessing to hear what a long and full life your mother lived. Praise God. And you're right, it could have been an angel who delivered that message of hope and encouragement to you. Only God knows the future and He gave you a glimpse of it through that amazing encounter. He's such a good Father!

I'm reviewing your stories today and I remember my mother, age 90, locked herself out of her house one day and as she was looking for the hidden key, a man from the doctors' parking lot nearby came over and asked if he could help her. He reached the key for her and she was able to get back into her house. When she told me about this, I asked what color the man's car was. She said white. I recall from other stories that angels often drive white cars. Then in my mind (or spirit) I realized the angel looked like my dad who is deceased a few years ago. So I think it was my dad's angel keeping an eye on my mother. He looked (in my mind's eye at least) like my dad which may be why she was not startled by his appearance.

Thank you for sharing! You're right, the Bible says that we interact with angels without even realizing it (Heb. 13:2). God is so faithful to watch out for us with His tender loving care!
New to me...

I am growing in the Lord, and never heard of communicating so closely with the angels. Is there a teaching somewhere on this? I would love to learn more about this.
Excited,
Karen

Hi Karen - Thanks for stopping by! If you’re looking for teaching on “how” to communicate with angels, then the 4 Keys materials will help most with that. Both God and angels are spirits in the spirit realm, so essentially you’ll use the same steps for interacting with both. :)
If you’re looking for more stories about angels, Kevin Basconi has written some books on The Reality of Angelic Ministry. I like them because he often sees his angels the way I see mine – playful, smiling, winking, laughing. Good stuff! Enjoy and be blessed!
