Choose to Be a Blesser Rather Than a Converter

The book Discover Your Mission Now by Dave Ferguson tells about a doctoral thesis: “Blessers vs. Converters.” The researcher looked at the results of two short-term missions teams using different missional strategies.

The team referred to as “Blessers” went with the intention of simply blessing whoever came their way in whatever practical ways they could. The “Converters” went with the sole intention of converting people and evangelizing everyone they encountered. They discovered that the Blessers had almost 50 times as many conversions as the Converters.

Part of God's prophecy through Abraham to us is stated in Genesis 12:3, "All the peoples of the earth will be blessed through you." If we focus more on serving people and less on changing them, our impact will be greater.
