We have been looking at the ineptitude of our spiritual enemy and examining the potential access points our negative feelings make available to him. Today we will consider several Scriptures to learn more about the armor God has provided to keep us safe in battle.

Now that we have firmly established the enemy is not a scary threat to us, we will examine how he does try to sneak in and affect our lives. Genesis 3:1 says that the serpent was the most crafty and cunning of all the animals. The enemy’s strategy is so subtle, the devil and his cohorts prefer we not even realize they are infiltrating.

We are continuing our discussion on the spiritual battleground of our hearts and minds by examining just who our adversary is and what he can and cannot do.

Awhile back I had shared this message with a small group, but realized I had not yet written about it here. This is an incredibly important understanding for us to live into. We never want to have too big of a devil and too small of a God!

We often think of spiritual warfare as something happening outside of us. But more often than not, it’s happening within us.

I wasn’t in a good mood and knew I needed to have a quiet time. The company of heaven always cheers me up, and today they had their work cut out for them!

I didn’t even bother to sit up, but leaned across the couch, closing my eyes and looking for God to show me something that would refresh my tired soul and body.

While many Christians believe God can speak through dreams, they consider it to be a rather out-of-the-ordinary experience. They may have felt the Lord lead them through a dream or two here or there over the years. They may have received a very literal dream where Jesus came to them and spoke clearly and gave them new direction for their life.

That is awesome and God definitely does do that. He did it in the Bible, and He certainly continues to do that today. 

In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve chose not to live out of the supernatural realm and dependence on God. They determined to live from their heads rather than their hearts, resolving to decide on their own between good and evil (Gen. 3:5).

But God did not give up on humankind that easily. When our minds rest at night, our spirits still fellowship with God. Even though we abandoned relationship with Him and chose to live out of our minds during the day, God knew He could still reach us at night through our dreams. This was His back-up plan.

I love Psalm 139 and what it reveals about our dreams: How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up,
